Accused Injured In Police Firing In Karimganj's Lakhipur

Guwahati: In yet another case of firing in Assam, an accused under custody was injured in police firing in Karimganj's Lakhipur.

According to police, the accused identified as Sariful Hussain alias Moina Miya was arrested on Friday along with three others for opening fire on a youth during a robbery attempt.

During the interrogation, Hussain agreed to lead the police to weapon which he had allegedly used to shoot the youth.

However, on the reaching the spot, he took out the weapon and then threatened the police and tried to flee from the custody.

The police team warned him and asked him not to do so by when he didn't stop, the cops shoot him on the leg.

He was immediately rushed to a hospital for further treatment after being apprehended by the police again.
